Vice President Harris declared her candidacy as the Democratic contender for US president on this momentous occasion, sharing her pride in X. “I am honored to be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States,” she said. “I will formally accept the nomination next week. Inspired by our passion for the nation, our campaign seeks to unite people to fight for the best qualities within every one of us.”
“We love our country,” she said upon declaring her candidacy. This campaign is based on our conviction in America’s promise. Of course, after the virtual voting session concludes next week, I will formally accept the nomination. We are going to celebrate this historic occasion with a celebration in Chicago at the end of this month.”
At the top of the presidential ticket, Harris becomes the first woman of Indian and African descent.
Being the first African-American and Indian-American woman to lead a presidential ticket, Harris has created history. After the virtual roll call of votes, which verified that Vice President Harris had received more votes than the majority of votes from all delegate representatives, Jaime Harrison, the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, expressed his pride. Harris has held the position of San Francisco’s district attorney. In 2003, she was appointed San Francisco’s District Attorney. She was the second Black woman to serve as Attorney General twice before being elected to the Senate in 2017. She supported President Donald Trump on foreign policy issues, but as a senator, she was outspoken in her criticism of him. In addition to being the first Indian-American and African-American vice president in American history, Kamala Harris made history as the first woman to hold the position.
